ZyXEL Introduces IAD for DSL and FTTH
ZyXEL recently introduced their model P-2612HW dual WAN Integrated Access Device (IAD). With both ADSL2+ and Ethernet uplinks, it can initially connect to DSL and then later to a FTTH Optical Network Terminal (ONT), thus preserving the investment in this device. Or it can be one device used by a carrier for serving both DSL and FTTH subscribers. Providing both business and residential features, this IAD allows a Small Office/Home Office (SoHo) subscriber to use broadband for work and play.
The IAD supports the Broadband Forum’s TR-069 remote management, which is available in both ADSL and Ethernet uplink modes. With TR-069 remote management regardless of how it is deployed, this IAD should protect a carrier’s investment in management infrastructure. Additionally, the device supports SNMP and a Web GUI as alternatives.
On the LAN side, the IAD provides both wired and wireless connections. Four 10/100 Ethernet ports connect devices directly to the IAD. Support for WiFi 802.11 b/g provides local wireless connections.
Two analog phone ports provide integral SIP VoIP support. To save a bit of bandwidth, the IAD provides G.729 compression along with modem and fax tone detection and pass through.
For security, the IAD supports both a firewall and IPSec VPN tunnels. The firewall provides stateful packet inspection and content filtering. Two concurrent IPSec tunnels allow secure connections to corporate locations.
The P-2612HW is targeted for sales directly to carriers and is currently available. Click on this link for more information from the ZyXEL website.
